Tara recently tweeted:
Stringing up the @OfficialOpeth Mike Åkerfeldt guitar for a performance at: http://www.muchmusic.com/events/bigjingle/ … on Sunday

One of the performers for the MuchMusic Big Jingle will be Shawn Desman, and as we have shared with you before, Tara is a part of his backing band.
If you get the MuchMusic channel, make sure you tune in tomorrow, December 2nd at 5PM ET.
We’ll try to keep an eye out for any videos that surface after the performance.
In the meantime, we wish Tara a great performance!

We were able to get a hold of Trish and she was kind enough to answer a few questions for us. It’s been quite some time since we ourselves have interviewed the band, so this is treat! It was interesting reading her perspective about rejoining Kittie.
I barely touched a bass or guitar for the first two years after leaving Kittie. It was kind of like a post-breakup thing. You just cut things that remind you of that time of your life out for a while. I still play guitar in my spare time and since re-joining the band I’ve played a lot of bass. I missed it for sure and when I got back into jamming with the girls I realized how much I love it! I got hooked up with Warwick this time around and I have to say I’m glad to be playing again.
Kittie tweeted this earlier today:
A friend of ours needs your help to put a book out with quotes from female musicians. Here’s the kickstarter http://kck.st/Mm6AgS
ROCKRGRL Magazine (1995- 2005) – was a highly influential independent but much beloved publication for women who play music. Many artists interviewed very early in their careers went on to enjoy mainstream success (Tegan and Sara, Sleater-Kinney, Vicci Martinez, Kittie, The Donnas)..
The magazine has featured Kittie many times, and even once on the cover for The Drummer Issue, #51, Spring 2004.
Now, the creators of ROCKRGRL are putting together their GRL Talk Book full of quotes.
When the award-winning ROCKRGRL Magazine went on permanent hiatus at the end of 2005, it left a void in the publishing world for women who play music. Now we need YOUR help to give ROCKRGRL the proper closure it never got …
“GRL Talk: 231 Memorable Moments from ROCKRGRL Magazine,” a limited edition perfect-bound book, will fill that void. “GRL Talk” is an inspiring collection of ROCKRGRL’s timeless “AHA!!” moments. Each quote is one sentence long and placed in one of five categories:
• Sound Advice
• Surviving the Biz
• Inspiration
• Musicianship
• GRL Talk

KITTIE drummer Mercedes Lander and former KITTIE bassist Tanya Candler laid down backing vocals this week on a new recording from Orianna, a 14-year-old singer/songwriter and entertainer from London, Ontario, Canada.
Orianna, whose real name is Nikki Whitehead, is working on her first CD with producers Moe Berg (a founding member of Canada’s THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS) and Matt Grady.

No news yet about song titles and such, but we’re excited to learn more!
Back in June, Metalholic named the “15 Hottest Female Guitar Shredders”, putting Tara near the top of the list.
When we say hottest, we aren’t talking about sexy, we’re talking about the steam coming off the fretboards when these ladies of the axe cut loose. No more is the guitar a boys only club, and it’s about damn time we celebrate and recognize.
Tara started her music career by paying her dues on the Canadian bar circuit playing in a cover band until being discovered by the Lander sisters. The Queen shredder for London, Ontario’s Kittie, McLeod has been a driving force for the all-female metal quartet since 2005. She has made her six-string presence felt on three of the band’s six studio albums, including last year’s triumphant, I’ve Failed You. She is never without her trademark PRS and Gibson Les Paul guitars.
